Cleansing Smoothie

by Hugh

This smoothie is loaded with cleansers that will nourish as well as cleanse. If you are used to the cleansing regime you can leave out the dates, chia seed, and cut back on the oranges for a more effective cleanse, but that recipe is not for the faint of heart.

3 oranges

1 whole lemon, rind and all

1 beet with stalk and greens

½ bunch dandelion greens

½ bunch flat leaf parsley

¼ head cabbage

3 stalks of celery

5 dates

1 hot pepper

1 tablespoon chia seed

Other ingredients for different options include:

fresh rosemary

fresh aloe leaf

fresh ginger root

fresh burdock root

dandylions
by: Holly

Just make sure if you pick dandelion leaves from the yard, it hasn't been sprayed! I see them often at the Asian grocer here in UT.

******Good to be aware of but hopefully you're not spraying in your own yard. I do take into consideration pollution, sprays and animal waste when I harvest food anywhere. There are some places that no matter how good the food looks I will not consume it.

dandelion greens
by: Anonymous

I'm in Melbourne any ideas where to get dandelion greens or its substitute please.

*******If you can't find any at an organic market or health food store you might try your backyard. Dandelions grow wild and typically sprout up in lawns or around the garden.

I'm able to get them at my farmers market, but also pick them wild from my garden beds.

I don't really know of a substitute, however there may be a super green powder mix that contains them.

Blender or juicer?
by: Anonymous

Do you put the ingredients in a juicer first then in a blender? Or put everything in the blender? If it's the later, what type of blender of you have?

*******Right into the blender. I use a Blendtec, which is a high speed blender like the Vitamix. These high powered blenders make short work out of produce and create a very nice smoothie.
