Time for a liver detox diet? Our livers are one of the most important of our vital organs. Everything that we either eat or drink goes through our livers. They are our bodies filtering device for removing any impurities and toxins from our blood. But as with any such filtering device, over time they can become clogged up. With your auto's oil filter you simply take the old one out throw it away and replace it with a new one which will be okay for the next 5,000 miles. However, you can't do that with your liver so you need to find the best free liver detox diet that you can.

If you have never done a detox, you are well overdue. You probably haven't noticed the gradual build up of symptoms that frequently tell us that we need to detox our systems. Because the buildup is slow, we just tend to learn to live with the symptoms as part of our daily existence. It's only when we embark on the best free liver detox diet that we suddenly begin to remember how good we used to feel, and by the end of the diet, (they usually don't last more than two weeks), you'll will feel like a new person.

Often the symptoms are not recognized as signs that a detox is overdue, because they are chalked up to being the effects of “normal” aging or a hectic lifestyle. Things like being constipated, feeling sluggish, lack of energy, finding it hard to concentrate, and catching every bug that goes around. This last symptom is because the immune system itself becomes weakened by all of the toxins present in your bloodstream. So just take a moment to see if you recognize any of these symptoms from your body signaling the need for the best free liver detox diet right now.

You may be wondering how all of these toxins get into our bodies in the first place, and the answer is in what we eat, what we drink, what we breath and even what comes into contact with our skins. The list includes pesticides (unless we eat all organic foods), household chemicals (cleaners etc), food additives, caffeine, drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, heavy metals, and even ammonia which our bodies create when they process proteins. With all of this stuff floating around inside us, it is hardly surprising that we need the best free liver detox diet.

But what are we referring to when we say the best free liver detox diet? Well, we are talking about fresh raw foods typically juiced or blended, but salads do the job also. Not only do we need to clean out our bodies, but we need to stop any more poisonous toxins from passing through our livers while the detox is in progress. The best way of doing this is to eat fresh raw foods that are easy on the system and to drink plenty of water.

If you’re having difficulty digesting raw foods try starting out with green smoothies or juices. Typically bitter greens like dandelion are great liver detoxifiers.  Mixed with some fruit in the blender will make them very easy on the palate. Over time your digestion will improve and you should be able to eat most fresh raw fruits and vegetables as you like.

“Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food.” - Hippocrates, the “Father of Medicine”

Milk thistle and artichoke extracts are also said to be very good liver detoxifiers as is lemon juice in water.  Some recommend a glass of water with lemon juice first thing in the morning to stimulate digestion and allow the liver to cleanse.

There is a liver cleanse that involves consuming apple juice for a few days and then consuming Epsom salts, later a large quantity of olive oil with grapefruit juice, followed the next day by more Epsom salts. Some praise this plan for the “stones” released and others claim those stones to be solidified olive oil from the night before. I have done that cleanse and the stones did seem to be comprised of fat, and I did not notice any positive effects other than feeling very glad to be done with the cleanse itself. Raw food juicing and blending are definitely gentler, are easier, more natural, and are known to work well.

So now that you know the best free liver detox diet is comprised of fresh raw food juices, smoothies, and salads take a look at these Detox Diet Recipes and get started on planning your own personal detoxification plan. Not only will you get a great detox, but you’ll feel healthier, and have more energy that you’ve had in years.

Incorporating more fresh raw foods into your everyday diet after your detox cleanse is over will create greater health and a sense of well being. Depending on your personal situation you may want to do a cleanse every few months or so to go deeper in cleaning out your body. Of course before embarking on any kind of detox diet or diet change you should consult with your personal health care provider.
