Natural Health Remedies
as Your Alternative

Natural health remedies are good for you.  Today thousands of people spend huge amounts of money at their local pharmacy for the purchase of prescription drugs. Some of these drugs cause damage to other vital organs as they attack the patient's original problem. Natural health remedies focus more on overall health and the body' amazing ability to heal itself. They provide an alternative solution to health problems without the side effects that require the many disclaimers found with prescription drugs.

Physicians are normally the last people to realize that natural health remedies are often better than standard medical treatments. Sixty years ago medical practitioners knew little about lactose intolerance. Physicians faced with patients who had abdominal cramping and severe stomach distress often gave sedatives and coating solutions for the stomach, and recommended the treatment of the day for ulcers, a high cream diet. Of course, this only made matters worse. Eventually, someone noticed that removal of milk from the diet stopped all the distress and scientists looked for the reason. Today, lactose intolerance is a well-known condition that is easily diagnosed and treated.

The human body was not meant to live on processed foods or foods containing ingredients too difficult for most people to pronounce. Early man scavenged the land to glean food for sustenance and ate his food raw and natural. The desire for additional flavoring and sugary sweet products grew from several sources. Simple foods were the fare of the poor, and rich meals and desserts were only afforded by the very wealthy. Thus it became fashionable to eat gluttonous amounts of meat and sugary foods.

Processed foods made their way into the home of Americans in the same method. Homemakers worked hard to show off culinary skills and left raw foods behind as an embarrassment to serve. The wealthy could afford processed breads and other foods and these became a status symbol. Television commercials indicated that good mothers served children food they loved and boxed macaroni and cheese became a staple food for little bodies. Suddenly, healthy eating was only for the poor and children with bad or overprotective parents.

Food manufacturers and restaurant chains promoted addictively sweet cereals, gooey chocolate bars and fried chicken and potatoes dripping with fat. The American public obliged and developed a taste for the empty calories that rot teeth and clot veins. Most people find that after a few weeks on a raw food diet, these once coveted treats no longer hold the same appeal and even seem disgusting. That's because the body is no longer held captive by the vicious sugar and fat cravings created by their continual consumption.

The raw foods diet provides antioxidants, phytonutrients, fiber, vitamins and minerals that are often missing from the population's diet. These are the building blocks of cells, the cleansers of toxins and the protectors of the cell's DNA. These substances may very well be the key to an extended active life. Antioxidants and phytonutrients are now accepted by the health care community as boosts to healthy living. Unfortunately, drug manufacturers cannot patent an orange, ginger or leafy greens, and endless propaganda drives doctors to recommend prescription drugs over natural health remedies.

The drive toward aiding the body to heal itself by providing the tools in nutritional form increases as the general public learns more about raw foods  and nutritional changes that improve health. People find that they no longer have the problem that sent them running to physicians; their overall health is dramatically improved through diet and other natural health remedies.
