What can you do with juice pulp?

Q What can you do with the pulp of vegetables and fruits that you juice? They look too nutritious to simply discard.

A Good question. It does seem like there is a lot of good nutrition in the pulp, and there probably is some, but remember you just extracted many of the nutrients through the juicing process. Most people just compost it, but there other things you can do. You can see the answer to this question and others here:

Our poultry LOVE it!
by: Kellae

We recycle our pulp to our various poultry on the ranch. They go crazy for it, and the eggs are amazing. We also use it in our pasta sauce and soups as a thickener, and for fiber. We do recycle almost everything anyways, so it makes sense for us!

Pesto

Depending on what pulp, I would add some fresh herbs and make a pesto.

I add it to my dog' regular dry food. He loves it. He'll eat the pulp of vegetables he would not touch in their whole form.

Cook with the pulp
by: April

The pulp has a lot of needed fiber, so I like to use it by scrambling it up in some eggs, or mixing it into some cream cheese for a healthy dip. I also want to try it in muffins =o)

Hugh's comment**** This is a good way to use the pulp, which is as you point out mainly fiber. Good to remember though that most of the nutrients have been taken out in the juice so adding more fresh vegetables along with the pulp into your recipes would be better still.

Pulp makes the best red-worm food- read about benefits of natural composting on line. Red worms are very beneficial for gardeners.
